B.S.L Community provides Community Support Workers, (sometimes known as Personal Assistant’s, PA’s). The majority of our Community Support Workers are native BSL users and are therefore fluent in British Sign Language.
The Community Support Workers work within the community to support deaf people on wide range of activities or objectives. We have various packages on offer, from enablement to general support.
We employ only experienced Community Support Workers who are DBS checked.
We are committed to enabling people at all times and celebrate each achievement, no matter how small. We encourage people to take the lead and set their goals. We are very conscious to avoid becoming ‘helpers’ or taking over the work.
The overall aim with B.S.L Community is to ensure people can remain independent or work towards becoming independent.
Our Community Support Workers do not offer personal care or support with medication, but we often work closely with other care professionals.
We understand that every person is different, and that the level of support can vary.
