We are pleased to announce that we have been granted further funding to support the Deaf community and those who are vulnerable during the extended pandemic. We have made some changes to our support and will be working on a holistic basis, meaning each case will be considered independently.
We will have ‘Engagement Workers’ who will work with those who are vulnerable during the coronavirus period. This is a new role created specifically for this current situation.
Our engagement workers can help with things like online food shopping, making sense of letters and documents, encouraging socialising online and in line with social distancing, and even with learning how to use tools like Zoom to maximise use of technology and to access the same information as others.
We will no longer be offering services with in-shop grocery shopping, or picking up and delivering medications and prescriptions.
We are able to offer the service free of charge but as the funding is limited, there is an eligibility criteria. Support will be primarily for the Gravesend, Ashford (including Folkestone and Hythe), Maidstone and Margate areas, but given the uniqueness of the situation, every case will be considered.
